- Reading, Pa. - On March 1st of 1970, Earl and Mary Redner placed their savings and faith into Earl's dream to open a grocery store and run it his way. 40 years and 53 stores later, Earl's purchase of two failing stores has blossomed into the fulfillment of his dream to operate a successful family, employee and locally owned company. With the current third generation of Redner's working within the company, "The Chief" (as Earl is known by Redner's employee owners) is proud of the legacy he has established as an independent company instilling a pride in ownership, commitment to community and making the customer's satisfaction the bottom line. Today the company is run by Earl's son, Richard; president and chief executive officer along with his grandchildren, Ryan S; chief operating officer and Gary M. Redner; executive vice president of procurement. "What my father and mother (Earl and Mary) began in 1970 was a huge venture and they put their life savings into my father's dream of independent ownership. To be where we are today as a successful, employee-owned and independent company, says a lot to his vision in 1970 and continued leadership," said Richard Redner. "We have made it 40 years in a tough business and were only able to do so through dedicated employees, disciplined buying, operations and taking care of our customers. Without our customers, we would not be here and in celebration of our 40th so we felt it was necessary to give back to them with some special 40th Anniversary deals and the chance to win a $100 gift card." Throughout March, Redner's will be highlighting in its ads many of the changes that the company has experienced as it has grown to be the largest, employee and family owned grocer within Pennsylvania. Redner's will be celebrating the anniversary with a promotion for its customers who have loyally supported Redner's Warehouse Markets, Quick Shoppes and pharmacies. Customers will be able to enter for a chance to win a $100 gift card, which will be randomly awarded to 400 entrants throughout March. Entry forms will be issued on each receipt received and also upon request at the office of each store. Official rules will be available at each store. Redner's Markets, Inc., an employee owned company, currently operates 38 Warehouse Markets and 13 Quick Shoppes throughout Eastern Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware. Redner's is committed to supporting the community in which each Warehouse Market and Quick Shoppe is located through a variety of supportive partnerships and enrichment programs. Redner's continually strives to provide the lowest prices, freshest product and the outstanding service our customers have come to expect for 40 years. ###
